Mr President: A Plaintive, Plush Plea

In December 2012, I attended the UN Climate talks in Doha, Qatar and tried to distract myself from the challenges of multilateral negotiations by writing a musical paean to recently re-elected US President Barack Obama.

When I returned home, Kai Nagata and I expanded it into a full song, turned ourselves into puppet children, and warbled it online. In 2013, ‘Mr President’ was nominated for an Environmental Media Award for best digital video. We lost to actual astronauts, which is scientifically-agreed to be the best way to lose an award.
